Our client is seeking an exceptional person with proven management and hospitality experience.

The overall purpose of this highly important role is to organise and supervise the unit in accordance with and to the standards required by the Group, the contract specification and statutory Regulations. To be responsible for the overall efficient and effective management of the unit to provide great quality Foodservice and Support Services as required. Responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of food to agreed standards and specification. To ensure the efficient and economic use is made of all resources, including stock, team members and company assets.

Experience of working in a boarding school, or a quality driven B&I environment is essential,

You must hold considerable knowledge and understanding of food and eating issues relating to young adults

Demonstrate an awareness of current trends, offers on the high street and issues generally relating to food, health and well-being - a real 'foodie’ with wide ranging knowledge of international cuisine

Be able to manage a budget and understand all financial procedures

Be able to work effectively as a member of the wider business and respond positively to change

Possess excellent interpersonal skills

Be confident with written and spoken English and have assured presentation skills

Ensure the smooth running of the day to day operation of the catering and housekeeping department (40 staff)

Show initiative and imagination coupled with integrity, honesty and a good sense of humour

Be responsible for the appointment of all new staff

Be able to motivate people and lead by example, building loyalty and strengthening team work

Work closely with the School and meet regularly with the Head of Pastoral Care.

Appropriate knowledge of the legal requirements for Safeguarding Children

Ensure that students’ views expressed via a food committee, house committees etc. are actioned where appropriate.

Support the school admissions and marketing department by hosting first class events as required

Attend Head of Department meetings ensuring operations across the business are supported where necessary

Manage all staff with annual appraisals, performance development programmes and training

Encourage the team in bringing 'added value’ to the business

A desire to be the best

Promote food and hospitality via social media with client approval

Complete all weekly paperwork as per Compass guidelines

Ensure full compliance with H&S company policy and procedures

Support the Regional Manager, assisting at other units where possible
