The national minimum wage is being increased
The current national minimum wage for over 25 year olds is £7.20 per hour. This is now being increased to £7.50 an hour. For 21-24 year olds, the national minimum wage is currently £6.95 an hour and will be increased to £7.05. 18 to 20 year olds are earning £5.55 but this is also being increased in April to £5.60. 16-17 year olds are currently being paid £4.00 an hour and in April this will be increased to £4.05. Apprenticeship national minimum wage is £3.40 per hour and will be £3.50 per hour in April. These rates will change for the 1st April 2017.
